Meet the chief

 

Chief Jon Patterson has worked in the law enforcement community for 20 years, beginning his career in Ottawa County. He has worked as a reserve police officer, 911 dispatch supervisor, a marine patrol deputy, police officer, corporal, and sergeant, before accepting the position as the Chief of Police for the City of White Cloud Police Department, and has been with White Cloud PD since 2021, and before that worked, either full or part time, worked for the City from 2007 to 2018.
Chief Patterson’s goal is to continue the great work that was started at White Cloud PD, and to move the police department into the future through integrity, building and maintaining trust, and community involvement. He has an open-door policy, and welcomes input from all
members of our city and community.

Meet the school resource officer

Officer Rasch has been with the White Cloud Police Department since 2020 and took on the role of interim Chief in 2024. A native of Newaygo County, he graduated from Baker College and later attended the GVSU police academy to further his education. As the School Resource Officer (SRO) for White Cloud Public Schools, Officer Rasch plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors. His responsibilities blend law enforcement with mentoring and education, focusing on building trust and strong relationships within the school community.

Beyond enforcing laws, Officer Rasch is dedicated to fostering a positive and safe learning environment. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, hunting, and teaching Concealed Pistol License (CPL) classes.

Sergeant Hoover’s law enforcement journey began at the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department, where he honed his skills and built a strong foundation for his career. Since joining the WCPD in 2021, he has quickly earned a reputation for his unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to serving both the community and his fellow officers.

His leadership style is marked by a focus on fostering teamwork and promoting a positive work environment within the department. Sergeant Hoover is passionate about enhancing public safety and building stronger relationships with the community he serves.

As he steps into his new role, he looks forward to leveraging his experience and vision to continue making a meaningful difference, both for the department and the people of the community.
